Major duties include:
Receiving incoming telephone calls, acts as receptionist, Receiving employees and visitors, ascertaining the nature of their business, Receive incoming mail, sorts and issues, Assembles needed material for response by the Service Chief Types and accurately prepares personnel actions, performance evaluations and Disciplinary actions, Types memoranda, letters and reports in final form from recorded dictation and/or handwritten notes, Keeps accurate records on all personnel actions, and all other record keeping related to all employees in the service, Sets up appointments for the Service, rejecting and prioritizing as needed, Obtains and monitors the use of services, supplies, or equipment for the service, Answers questions concerning policies and procedures related to support/office services and new projects, Serves as timekeeper for assigned service(s) Arranges meetings; attends, records and transcribes minutes, and distributes appropriately Performs other related duties as assigned. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
organizing and planning the activities of an office; maintaining suspense systems to ensure items assigned for action are completed and submitted timely; serving as liaison between offices and/or sections; reviewing correspondence and documents prepared for signature by management to ensure compliance with regulations, rules of grammar, format guidelines and policies of the facility; meeting and working with individuals at different organizational levels, public contacts and persons of diverse backgrounds to provide specialized information and/or to direct inquiries appropriately; composing correspondence on administrative matters; maintaining filing systems; preparing reports; maintaining fund control point. OR, Education:
As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. A Qualified Typist is Required. Applicants who are not currently in a position that requires a qualified typist (ability to type 40 wpm) must submit documentation of typing proficiency dated within the past three years or self-certification of typing ability must be submitted by the closing date You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
