IT Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-13 (Direct Hire)

The working title for this position is Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO). As an Information Systems Security Officer, you will perform the following duties:
Maintain the security posture of the systems within the organization, developing the organizations cybersecurity program, which includes cybersecurity architecture, requirements, objectives, and policies. Coordinate technical vulnerability testing and network/cybersecurity assessments for Office of Water Prediction (OWP) users to meet prescribed Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards. Develop policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent, protect, and defend against unauthorized access to systems, and confidentiality of critical systems, networks, and data. Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with users and stakeholders of OWP systems and networks, including promoting awareness of security issues among management and ensuring sound security principles are reflected in the organization's visions and goals. IT COMPETENCIES:
For all positions, individuals must have IT-related experience (which may be may be obtained by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate) demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

Experience:
Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-13 level:

Experience:
In addition to meeting the IT competencies above, applicants must also possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
Providing advice on the vulnerabilities of information technology systems to ensure protection and security of organizational operations; and Assisting with the review and development of policies, standards, or procedures to ensure compliance with IT security requirements.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
