Advanced Medical Support Assistant-Community Care

Duties to include but not limited to:
The Advanced MSA works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model (i.e. PACT, Specialty Clinics, & Non-VA Care) and performs customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients and for Care in the Community. Communicates with Non-VA Care providers to ensure they accept VA patients and payments, prepare any required pre-appointment documents, schedules the appropriate level of care and documents the schedule in the appropriate consult. Obtains medical documentation from Non-VA provider, scans and records to appropriate consult within CPRS and alerts the VA providers for continuity of care. Coordinates internal and external care between customers and providers. Supports patient safety standards using the correct Veterans Affairs identification of all patients through the use of two forms of identification, name and full Social Security Number. The patient may also present the Veterans Healthcare Identification Card (VHIC) for identification. Interacts with the patient to validate and update patient demographic information, either in person during check-in or over the phone, to decrease the incidence of returned mail due to incorrect addresses and inability to contact patient by phone due to incorrect number. Schedules non-VA clinic appointment using consult toolbox. Complies with the mandatory training requirements for the outpatient scheduling processes. Ensures all appointments are scheduled timely and the provider and patient's desired dates are met. Work Schedule:

Six months experience of clerical, office, customer service , or other administrative work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; OR, (2) Education. One year above high school; OR, (3) Experience/Education Combination. Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. Part-Time
Experience:
Part-time experience as a MSA is creditable according to its relationship to the full-time work week. For example, a MSA employed 20 hours a week, or on a 1/2-time basis, would receive 1 full-time work week of credit for each 2 weeks of service. Quality of
Experience:
Experience is only creditable if it is either directly related to the position to be filled or in a related field. Qualifying experience must also be at a level comparable to Medical Support Assistant experience at the next lower grade level (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level). May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation). Grade Determinations:
In addition to the basic requirements of the position, the applicant is required to meet the grade determination requirements at the GS-05 grade level for this position.
Experience:
One year of experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level. References:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
