Physical Therapist

Duties to include but not limited to:
Measures, restores and preserves joint range of motion through mobilization techniques and exercises. Evaluates muscle length and performs stretching exercises and soft tissue mobilization to enhance muscle elasticity. Interprets clinician's prescriptions and referrals. Performs muscle strength and quantification. Evaluates muscle hypotonicity or hypertonicity and provides exercises to normalize motor control. Evaluates and trains sitting balance and standing balance, transfers and mobility,, including wheelchair use and ambulation. Progressive gait training with or without ambulatory aids may be offered and includes instruction in negotiating barriers and obstacles such as rough ground, ramps and stairs. Evaluates gait for lower extremity orthotics/prosthetics to facilitate gait independence and function. Evaluates level of independence during position changes and provides mobility training to enhance function. Offers exercises to increase strength, endurance, and coordination for specific muscle groups of the entire body. Assesses skin integrity and sensation and provides precautionary instructions for skin care. Manages edema and musculoskeletal pain by physical measures. Offers various physical therapy modalities, such as superficial and deep heat and cold, as well as hydrotherapy techniques, electrical stimulation, traction and massage. Assesses total body posture and provides education and exercises to improve alignment. Work Schedule:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education and experience. The individual must meet at least one of the education/experience requirements below:
1) Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy AND five (5) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. 2) Master's degree in Physical Therapy AND two (2) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. 3) Doctorate degree in physical therapy. NOTE:
Individuals must be a graduate of a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited college or university. The CAPTE is the only accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit entry-level physical therapy programs. Verification of accredited programs may be obtained from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) at www.apta.org. Licensure. Individuals hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Non-licensed PTs, who otherwise meet the basic requirements in this standard, may be given a temporary appointment as a graduate PT at the GS-11 grade level under the authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 (a)(1)(D) for a period not-to-exceed two years from the date of employment on the condition that such PT provide care only under the supervision of a PT who is licensed. Failure to obtain licensure during that period is justification for termination of the temporary appointment. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must possess one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Able to meet physical demands of the position, which includes:
heavy lifting, 50 pounds and over; moderate carrying, 15-49 pounds, pushing up to fours hours; reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, good dexterity( both hands required); prolonged walking, prolonged standing; repeated bending, pushing, pulling, an twisting; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously ; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing ( aid permitted); speed in working; and emotional stability. English Language Proficiency. Therapist must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S. 7402 (d), and 7407 (d). While performing duties of this job, the therapist is frequently required to stand, walk, bend and reach. Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds. Requires long periods of standing wearing gloves, mask, gown and eye shields during specific procedures. They must have full manual dexterity and keyboarding skills. Must be able to view and read information on computer screens.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
